Introduction
Throughout 2025 the Regional Legal Metrology Organizations Round Table Group (RLMO-RT) has continued its tradition of fostering international collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation in legal metrology. Following the transition of leadership at the 59th CIML Meeting, Mr Pedro Pérez (Colombia) assumed the role of Chair, with Pamela Dagg (Ireland) appointed as Vice Chair. Under this renewed leadership, and with consistent support from the BIML throughout the year, the group advanced its mission of strengthening global cooperation and enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of legal metrology activities worldwide.
Highlights from 2025
Leadership Recognition and Acknowledgements
The RLMO Round Table Group owes much of its progress to the dedication of its Chair, Mr Pedro Pérez, who has overseen and inspired the RLMO-RT’s mission of global knowledge exchange. We also thank Yara Saavedra for her invaluable support and coordination, ensuring the smooth operation of meetings and initiatives. Their commitment has been pivotal in driving forward the RLMO-RT’s priorities and activities.
One-to-One Meetings: Strengthening Regional Collaboration
A highlight of 2025 has been the series of one-to-one meetings with representatives from each RLMO. These engagements provided an opportunity to discuss unique regional challenges, exchange best practices, and reinforce the organisation’s collaborative ethos. The meetings addressed topics ranging from digital transformation and capacity building to attracting new talent and retaining expertise within the legal metrology community. Outcomes from these discussions have shaped the RLMO-RT’s strategies for the coming year, with an emphasis on knowledge sharing, joint projects, and professional development.
Development of Information Sheets
In an effort to enhance visibility and communication, the RLMO-RT is developing information sheets about each RLMO. These materials serve to clarify the roles, missions, and activities of the RLMOs, facilitating greater understanding and engagement among stakeholders. The initiative underscores the group’s commitment to transparency and effective outreach, supporting both internal cohesion and external awareness.
RLMO Workshop 2025
Key Discussions and Outcomes
The annual workshop, held alongside the 60th CIML meeting in Paris, served as a cornerstone event for 2025. The session opened with welcoming remarks from the Chair and Vice Chair, recognizing the collaborative spirit among RLMOs and the support of the BIML staff. The workshop featured presentations from Measurement Canada on software evaluation requirements, the Zambia Metrology Agency on sectoral impact and awareness, and the OIML Digitalization Task Group (DTG) on digital transformation and future guidance.
Key themes included:

Robust discussions highlighted the importance of future-proofing metrology systems, leveraging new technologies, and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Summary of Activities and Achievements
Throughout 2025, the RLMO-RT hosted multiple virtual and in-person meetings, including its interim round table and workshop sessions. These events focused on topics such as water tare in pre-packaged seafood, digitalization, software requirements for measuring devices, and the coordination of e-learning activities. The group also contributed actively to global initiatives, including COP 29 and COP 30, and maintained strong engagement with OIML and BIML teams.
Regional highlights included:
