This edition of the OIML Bulletin provides an overview of the 60th Meeting of the International Committee of Legal Metrology (CIML) and the Conference, held from 13 to 15 October 2025 in Paris.
It was a particular honour to celebrate a remarkable milestone – the 70th anniversary of the OIML – and to do so in the very city where our Organization was founded. On 12 October 1955, representatives from 24 visionary nations gathered in Paris to sign the Convention that established the International Organization of Legal Metrology. Returning to Paris for this anniversary underscored the enduring relevance and global impact of the mission they set in motion.
This year’s CIML Meeting and Conference brought together representatives from fifty-five Member States, twelve Corresponding Members, and five liaison organizations. We were privileged to receive opening remarks from the Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our Members for approving the budget for the 2026–2029 financial period. This decision provides the mandate and stability needed to address emerging challenges and continue advancing our strategic priorities. In addition, several key publications were revised and approved, demonstrating that the technical work of our Organization remains relevant and responsive to the needs of our Members.
We concluded the meeting with reports from our liaison partners and a reflection on the OIML’s contribution to COP29. Two distinguished colleagues, Dr Charles Ehrlich and Mrs. Corinne Lagauterie, were appointed Members of Honour. The session also included the presentation of several awards, including the OIML Medal to Dr Martin Milton and CEEMS Awards recognizing Thailand’s Department of Internal Trade and the Zambia Metrology Agency.
