OIML Letter of Appreciation
Intention of the OIML Letter of Appreciation
The OIML Letter of Appreciation is intended to recognise the excellent contribution to legal metrology of an individual or a team to the development of legal metrology over the past year. An OIML Letter of Appreciation may also be awarded in recognition of a long history of service to the OIML.
Award
The Award consists of a framed Letter of Appreciation signed by the CIML President.
Selection criteria
The criteria used to assess a candidate’s suitability to receive an OIML Letter of Appreciation include:
- outstanding contribution to legal metrology over the past year;
- excellent delivery of a specific project relating to OIML work;
- long history of service to the OIML.
Note: Active CIML Members are not eligible to receive an OIML Letter of Appreciation.
Nominations and procedure
The BIML circulates an annual call to CIML Members for nominations for an OIML Letter of Appreciation.
CIML Members may make a nomination accompanied by a short note explaining the reasons why the candidate meets the criteria and deserves to receive an OIML Letter of Appreciation.
The BIML draws up a list of the candidates, highlighting the reasons for the nominations. The CIML President, in consultation with the two Vice-Presidents and the BIML Director, selects the successful candidate(s) who will be announced at the next CIML meeting.
